What KovaPDF is
An online PDF toolkit that runs in your browser. Edit, convert, compress and read PDFs, including scanned ones.
What it does
KovaPDF does four kinds of work: editing text, images and pages; converting between PDF and other formats; managing pages by merging, splitting, rotating, resizing or removing them; and reading the text in scanned documents.
That last one matters most. A scanned page is just a picture, so you can't click or copy its words. OCR PDF turns them into text you can edit and keeps the original page underneath, so the scan works like a normal PDF.
Who it is for
People who need to change a PDF now and then and don't want to install anything. Freelancers and small businesses with contracts, quotes and invoices. Students and researchers with scanned material. And anyone who needs to combine, shrink or fix a document and move on.
How your documents are handled
Some tools work entirely in your browser, so the file never leaves your device. That includes showing pages, reading text already in the PDF, and your edits until you press Save. When a tool needs our server, the file is sent over an encrypted connection. It stays on our server only for a short time while it is processed, then it is deleted.
Apart from documents you send for signature, we don't keep your files, so there is no file list in your account. Your dashboard shows what you did, not what you uploaded. The Security page explains how your files are handled.
What it does not do
KovaPDF isn't end-to-end encrypted, because our server has to read your PDF to change it. Text recognition can make mistakes that look right. There's no shared team workspace, and apart from documents sent for signature, no file storage.
